Current Regimen
Kaycie and I have basically the same regimen. Our daily regimen changes slightly based on whether or not we are sporting protective styles. I try to keep our hair in protective styles for the majority of the month. Kaycie is in them more often then I am because it is just easy not to have to deal with two heads in the mornings.
Daily
There is not much more to my daily regimen. In the morning I apply Jojoba Oil which is an essential part of my hair routine. I apply it daily to fight dry hair and it gives great shine. I either apply it directly or I mix it with water and a small amount of V05 Moisture Milk conditioner in a spray bottle. I use this homegrown spray to rejuvenate 2nd day twist outs or wash-n-gos. In the evenings, if I am not in a protective style, I twist my hair into 8-12 large twist. I use a little Shea Moisture Coconut & Hibiscus Curl & Hold Smoothie on each twist and I tie the hair down with a silk scarf, ensuring that the twists hang out. Both of us sleep on a Silk Beauty Pillowcase, to protect the hair hanging out. If I am in a protective style or maintaining a 2nd day wash-n-go, I still use the silk wrap, but I use only a little Jojoba oil for light moisture. |
Weekly
I detangle weekly if I am not wearing a protective style. I co-wash with V05 Moisture Milk. I use a generous amount of V05 and a shower comb to ensure that I don’t damage my hair when detangling. After washing out, I apply a little more V05 to my hair as a leave in conditioner. I then apply either Extra Virgin Coconut Oil or Extra Virgin Olive Oil to the hair. I wrap my hair in saran wrap and let it sit for 15 minutes and then I rinse it out. I apply Castor Oil to seal and then a little Jojoba oil before styling. |
Monthly
I give my hair a deep treatment every month. I use all natural products for my deep treatments. I like Caramel Treatments, but lately I have been using another recipe as I try to baby my hair after my color treatment.
1 egg yolk Mix it all together and massage into hair. Either wrap a shower cap or plastic saran wrap and sit under heat for 1/2 hour. I hate sitting in one place so I love to use the portable dryer. It’s great for the little one as well! I then wash the mixture out and follow my weekly detangle process before styling. |
